Do you have any background on the manufacturing of RevolutionaryŽ watch winders ?

RevolutionaryŽ Company Overview - RevolutionaryŽ is a company based in the U.S.A. that is producing some of the highest quality watch winders on the market.  They are able to offer high-grade, affordable  watch winders to the public.  We have tested a great deal of watch winders and have felt that RevolutionaryŽ produces the best product.  Their products are designed, assembled and tested in the U.S.A.

Wood box manufacturing - The first step in the construction of all Revolutionary watch winders is the construction of the solid watch winder housing. Next, fifteen layers of Polyurethane provides for a piano-type, glossy finish. Each layer requires hand polishing, tinting, drying and finishing. Fifteen layers of Polyurethane equates to 30 days of labor-intensive workmanship to achieve the wood surface as smooth and shiny as a mirror, while still retaining wood grain visibility. The next step in the construction process entails adding hinges, fabrics and other materials. Most work requires specialized skills, which means the construction of the box will achieve the same quality and workmanship of the wood exterior case. On-line quality control is set up during each stage of the production. After the final assembly, a 100% quality control procedure begins resulting in the repair and/or disposal of sub-standard products.

Electronics - All Revolutionary watch winders are CE certified. One of very few watch winder brands that are CE certified. Another testimonial of Revolutionary's uncompromising high quality.

Can I custom order a watch winder ?

Absolutely! We offer watch winders that are custom made for individuals. Customers have the option to choose the color of the wood case along with the interior material. Currently there are 12 exterior color wood options and 20 interior material options. We currently stock two of the most popular exterior wood color combinations (Light Oak and Dark Oak). However, we can custom order any watch winder and they will be hand-made to your specifications. For inquiries, use the "Contact Us" page.

How long does it take to receive my watch winder after I have made payment ?

Once payment is received, in-stock units are shipped via UPS usually within 24 business hours.

How does a self-winding watch work ?

The following pictures show you the backside of a typical self-winding watch:

This watch happens to have a clear back so you can see inside. Highlighted in the second picture is a semi-circular metal piece that is the heart of a self-winding watch. Relatively speaking, this semi-circular piece is fairly heavy, and it is therefore affected by gravity. As you move the watch, this piece will move so that it is always pointed toward the ground. As you walk, with your arm swinging back and forth, this piece moves back and forth inside the watch.

The piece is attached to a gear train that gears it way down. Each movement of your arm winds the spring the tiniest bit, but since you move your arm so much it keeps the watch wound easily. The spring in the watch stores enough energy to keep the watch going for about a day and a half if you leave it on your dresser.

Why do I need a watch winder ?

A watch winder, like those sold at Watch Mecca, mimic human movement in order to keep your watch fully wound. If you own several watches or don't frequently wear a particular self-winding watch, then owning a watch winder is almost a necessity. Using a watch winder keeps your self-winding watch fully wound.

If you do not use a watch winder and manually wind a self-winding (a.k.a. "Automatic") watch on a regular basis, then you can be putting unnecessary stress on the auto reverser wheels of your watch. In addition, if your watch has a screw-down crown, you want will to minimize its use in order to prolong the O-ring gaskets and post. Using a watch winder from Watch Mecca will provide a less strenuous winding option when compared to manual windings on a regular basis.
